Commercial roof testing and inspections
Veteran Rep Group of Ohio offers infrared scanning, fastener pull tests, adhesion tests and asbestos testing, along with inspections and project reporting, for commercial roofs across Northern Ohio. Testing tells a building owner, architect or contractor what is under the existing roof before the design is final: whether the insulation is wet, whether the deck will hold fasteners and whether the old materials need special handling. Call 216-258-3834 or email roofmarine0311@gmail.com.
Infrared scanning
An infrared scan finds wet insulation under a low-slope roof without cutting the membrane open. After a sunny day, wet insulation holds heat longer than dry insulation, so after dark it shows up warmer on a thermal camera.
ASTM C1153 is the standard practice for this survey. It calls for confirming the readings with test cuts, and it is clear about its limits: a scan shows where moisture is, not where it got in. Owners use the moisture map to decide how much insulation has to be replaced and whether the roof can be recovered at all.
Fastener pull tests
A pull test measures how much force a roofing fastener can hold in the existing deck before it pulls out. On a recover, or on any new mechanically attached system, that number drives the fastener type and spacing needed to resist wind uplift.
ANSI/SPRI FX-1 is the standard field procedure: test fasteners are pulled straight out of the deck at a controlled rate, and the readings are recorded for the manufacturer and the designer.

Adhesion tests
Adhesion tests check how well an adhered membrane, or insulation set in adhesive, bonds to the actual substrate on your roof. ANSI/SPRI IA-1 is the standard field procedure for insulation adhesives: it loads the bond in steps and records how it fails. The results confirm a substrate and adhesive combination before a warranted project starts.
Asbestos testing
Older roofs can contain asbestos in felts, flashings, mastics and coatings. In Ohio, a renovation or demolition that falls under Ohio EPA’s asbestos rules needs written notice to Ohio EPA at least 10 working days before work starts, and the notice is not complete without an asbestos survey.
Testing early keeps a tear-off from stopping mid-project and lets the specification and the budget account for any abatement.
Inspections
From inspections to project reporting, our services cover every aspect of your commercial roofing projects. Inspections check existing roofs before a project is designed, and check the work during installation against the specification and the manufacturer’s requirements.
Email us about inspections or call 216-258-3834.
Project reporting
Project reports put findings in writing for the owner, the design team and the contractor: test results, photos, conditions found and what they mean for the roof system and the warranty.
